Excessive sweating

“Excellent customer service skills. Excellent treatment. Extremely pleased.”

Hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating can affect areas such as the armpit, groin, hands, feet or face – or the entire body. While excessive sweating does not pose a serious threat to your health, it can cause significant emotional and psychological distress that can have a negative impact on your quality of life.

Benefits of Botox treatment for hyperhidrosis

Excessive sweating is most commonly treated using muscle-relaxing injections to the armpits, which disables the sweat glands by blocking the nerves.

Because you will require multiple injections in a sensitive part of your body, it is worth carefully considering who performs this treatment for you. Our nurse consultant Sue Ibrahim has more than 30 years’ dermatology experience and is fully qualified and adept in carrying out this delicate procedure to ensure you are in safe hands. Treatment will need repeating every four months or so to remain effective.

Who is suitable for?

Subject to initial medical screening, both men and women of any age and with all skin types can benefit from the treatment. You should NOT have treatment if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

How long does treatment take?

Using a very fine needle, a small amount of the medication is injected into 10 to 15 places about 1cm apart and spread evenly in each armpit. Sometimes a dye is used to show up the areas where sweating is greatest and where the injections should be placed. A single treatment takes about 30 minutes. You should notice some change for the better within a week of your treatment. Effects last between 3-6 months.
